Ahmad Khomeini

Ahmad Khomeini ( Persian أحمد خمینی; * 1943 or 1945 in Qom, † March 17, 1995 in Tehran ), the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini 's younger son, was a Shiite cleric in the rank of Hodschatoleslam. His wife, Fatemeh Soltani Tabatabai, daughter of Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Bagher Soltani Tabatabai Boroujerdi and sister of Sadegh Tabatabai.

Life

Ahmad Khomeini was his father very close. He worked during and after the Islamic Revolution of 1979 in Khomeini's office in Paris and in Iran as chief of staff until his death in 1989.

After losing a power struggle in the question of the succession of his father as leader of the country against Rafsanjani Alī, he was administrator of the Khomeini Mausoleum and a member of the Iranian Security Council.

Ahmad Khomeini died on 17 March 1995 at the age of 49 years in a Tehran hospital after suffering a heart attack on March 12.
