Ahmet Altan

Ahmet Altan ( born 1950 in Ankara) is a Turkish journalist, writer and editor of the daily Taraf.

Ahmet Altan is the son of former writer and Members of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Çetin Altan. His brother Mehmet Altan is a professor of economics at the İstanbul Üniversitesi and writer.

Ahmet Altan worked for many years as a columnist for the newspapers Hürriyet, Güneş, Milliyet and Yeni movie Serial. In 2007, Altan the Taraf. Together with Alev He is Ahmet Altan editor and author of two columns in the Taraf.

Atakürt

In April 1995, he designed during his time with the Milliyet in a thought experiment a country, are suppressed and assimilated in the Turks by the Kurds. So Mustafa Kemal was not born a Turk in Salonika, but as a Kurd in Mosul and, after the War of Independence the honorary title Atakürt (father of the Kurds, instead of Ataturk, father of the Turks ), the country was (instead Türkiye) called Kürdiye. Ahmet Altan was fired because of this article and sentenced by the State Security Court to 18 months in prison.
