Ahrens AR404

The Ahrens AR 404 is a multi-purpose aircraft, designed for a versatile range of applications with low operating costs.

The cabin offers a maximum of 30 passengers in 2-1 - style seating. As a cargo plane, the AR can carry 404 standard four -D3 - container. Loading and unloading takes place via a shared platform at the rear of the aircraft. The ramp can be opened in flight to allow the settling of parachutists or goods.

History

On December 1, 1976 in Oxnard ( California ) launched the prototype for its maiden flight. The production was to take place in Puerto Rico because its government funded the pattern approval and construction of 18 series aircraft. The first production aircraft was launched on 26 October 1979 in Puerto Rico for its maiden flight. The type certificate should be in accordance FAR25. After successful registration were scheduled for delivery in 1982 twelve to sixteen, and for 1983 another 24 to 30 aircraft. More than 100 letters of intent were received from the manufacturer and were provided with temporary delivery data. About half of the production was intended for the North American market. Produced were ultimately only the two prototypes.
