Aide médicale internationale
Aide Médicale Internationale ( " International Medical Aid ", AMI ) is a French medical aid organization that works in the field of humanitarian aid. The aim of the organization is to help people in remote regions that have no access to a functioning health system. It was founded in 1979 by the physician Michel Bonnot, the ( MSF Médecins sans frontières ) was previously MSF worked and acted as secretary of state for humanitarian aid in the French government in the 1990s. The main reason for the emergence of AMI was the criticism of Michel Bonnot at the Media and Public Relations MSF and practiced by MSF disclosure of the observations made in use.
Activities and self-
Aide Médicale Internationale is present in nine countries with 25 utilities active in which medical support approximately 20 employees at the headquarters in Pantin, near Paris, about 80 delegates from abroad and some 2,500 local employees are involved and around 2.5 million people. An important aspect of the work on site is to help people to help themselves, with which the person concerned should be enabled by education and training gradually in a position to take over the medical care itself.
AMI refuses to report publicly on the use of events and thereby possibly resulting observations of violations of international humanitarian law and human rights. The first official press release of the organization appeared in 1995. The organization's budget was around 11.4 million euros in 2005.
