Aigle Castle

The Château d' Aigle ( German: Eagle Castle ) stands in the Swiss canton of Vaud in the middle of the Alps, about 47 kilometers southwest of Lausanne and is the most important attraction of Aigle.

History and organization

The first attachment is dated to the 11th century. The castle was enlarged in the 13th century, but only as it the Bernese succeeded the festivals in 1475 to get in her hand, the castle received its present appearance.

The rectangular system consists of a thick ring wall with three corner towers. The roofs are decorated conical. In the fourth corner is a powerful, surrounded by free-standing outbuildings Donjon.
