Aiguille Noire de Peuterey

Aiguilles de Peuterey Noire from the Val Veny (far right les Dames Anglaises )

The most famous climb (though not the easiest ) is the southern ridge, which was first ascended on 26 and 27 August 1930 Karl Brendelet and Hermann Schaller. The small Grattürme Picco Gamba, Punta Welzenbach, Punta Brendel, Punta and Punta Ottoz Bich should be distinguished on the southern ridge yet.

Together with the Aiguille Blanche de Peuterey and the Grand Pilier d'Angle is one of the mountain to Peutereygrat. In general, it is exceeded in the course of committing the Peutereygrates to Mont Blanc. It is a difficult and especially long tour. The first ascent of the complete ridge succeeded Adolf Göttner, Ludwig Schmaderer and Ferdinand Krobath from 28 to 31 July 1934.

The mountain has, like the majority of the southern Mont Blanc chain belonging to the summit, a French name, as the Valle d'Aosta long time to the Kingdom of Savoy was one, was where French spoken.
