Aikikai

The (Japanese财 団 法人 合 気 会Zaidan Hojin Aikikai ) Aikikai Foundation is the original and world's largest organization for the Japanese martial art Aikido. It was in 1940 officially recognized by the Japanese government. The foundation describes itself as a parent organization for the development and dissemination of Aikido in the world.

Organizational structure

The headquarters of the Aikikai Foundation, the Aikikai Honbu Dojo is located in Tokyo. After the death of Morihei Ueshiba, founder of aikido, the management of the organization in 1969 and was transferred to his son Kisshomaru Ueshiba. The present head of the Aikikai is Ueshiba Morihei Ueshiba Moriteru grandchildren. In Aikikai there are several lines that Morihei Ueshiba follow various students. Therefore, there is within the organization quite different styles.

Aikikai in Germany

Aikikai Germany is the official representative of the Aikikai Foundation for Germany. From this task assignment independently, in Germany there are also different, recognized by the Aikikai Foundation Aikido associations that are organizationally independent, however, be based on the style of senior teacher of the Aikikai. These include: the Aikikai Germany under national coach Katsuaki Asai (8th Dan Aikikai Honbu Dojo -sent to Germany ); Aikido Federation Germany ( AFD ) under Seishiro Endō (8th Dan ) and Christian Tissier (7th Dan ) and the Aikido Shinki Rengo under Michael Daishiro Nakajima ( 6th Dan ). Furthermore, there are other aikido organizations which are not recognized by the Aikikai Foundation, among these: the Federation of Aikido teachers ( BDAL ); the Free German Aikido Association ( FDAV ) under Nobuyoshi Tamura (8th Dan ); and also the students to Nobuyuki Watanabe (8th Dan ) who have joined forces in KenBuKai.

Since 1967, Katsuaki Asai own Aikikai Germany and the naming rights for the name " Aikikai ". Aikikai is since 2006 in Germany a registered trademark of Katsuaki Asai word.
