Air Atlantique

Air Atlantique is a British airline based in Coventry, specializing on nostalgia flights with an extensive fleet of historic aircraft.

History

Air Atlantique was founded in 1969 under the name of General Aviation Services as a provider of aircraft maintenance on the Channel Island of Jersey. In the same year the unscheduled flight was taken with a Cessna 336, the company was also the UK distributor for the American aircraft manufacturer Aviation. 1971, the company headquarters was first moved to Sherburn -in- Elmet in North Yorkshire, later to Doncaster. There you changed the company in Eastern Aviation and took over the operation of the local airfield. 1974, dealing with maintenance and aerodrome operating parts of the company were sold and continued flight operations as Air Atlantique.

In 1976, the first two Douglas DC-3 Dakota were added to the fleet for freight operations, temporarily possessed Air Atlantique claims to have the largest Dakota fleet in the world.
