Air interface
The air interface refers to the transmission of data by means of electromagnetic waves through the medium of air ( over the air, OTA abbreviation ). The air interface is in particular characterized in that there is no transmission medium, such as copper or fiber optic cable.

- Update firmware in smartphones ( FOTA = Firmware Over-The- Air)

- GSM, UMTS and LTE (This function GERAN, UTRAN or E-UTRAN as an air interface)

- Broadcasting ( in particular antennas and satellite television and radio)
- IrDA
