The air sports (also sport aviation ) is part of the general aviation and includes all kinds of sports activities with or in aircraft, as well as their acquisition, operation and maintenance.

  • Hang gliding ( " kite flying " )
  • Parasailing / paragliding

  • Dragon Sport, where specifically the kite surfing can be interpreted both as a sport air as well as water sport

Organization

The umbrella organization Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI ) represents a member of the ARISF the interests of air sport at international level. It establishes policy and competition regimes, coordinated international competitions and is responsible for the assessment and recognition of world record attempts.

At the national level sport pilots are often organized through local flying clubs, which are in turn a member of national umbrella organizations. Examples of the latter are the Royal Aero Club in the United Kingdom or the Aero-Club of Switzerland.

In Germany

In Germany, the FAI is represented by the German Aero Club ( DAeC ). There are also numerous other umbrella organizations who feel primarily responsible for individual areas of air sport:

  • German free balloon Sports Association ( DFSV ): Ballooning
  • German hang glider (DHV ): paraglider and hang glider flight
  • German model flyer Association ( DMFV ): Model Flight
  • German Ultralight Association ( DULV ): Ultralight
  • German Ultralight Soaring Association ( DULSV ): glider flight
  • Dragon - Club - Germany (DCD ): dragon sports (until 2006)
  • Modellflugsport Association of Germany ( MFSD ): Model Flight
