Air Tindi

Air Tindi is a Canadian regional airline based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. It deals with scheduled flights, business flights, air ambulance flights and charter flights as required.

The name Tindi means "The Great Lake " or " Great Slave " in the dialect of the local Dogrib.

History

Air Tindi was founded by the Arychuk family who are born and raised in the north. Flight operations started on 1 November 1988 four machines and 8 employees in Yellowknife. Originally passengers and cargo were flown to the communities, holiday homes and lodges located north of Yellowknife.

Since 1992, Air Tindi is the largest operator of float planes in northern Canada. Customers include the Canadian government, territory and provincial governments, the U.S. government, groups of Dogrib, holiday resorts, canoe tourists, hunters and trappers, as well as sports teams.

The airline operates from two locations in Yellowknife. At the airport there is a building complex with 3 hangars, private and charter terminal and a cargo warehouse. The water aerodrome is home to the summer with equipped with floats machines. In winter, the machines are upgraded to skids. The water base also serves as a guest of the organizational, financial and marketing departments.

On 19 December 2006, adopted by shares based in London, Ontario Air Tindi of the Discovery Air Inc, a trading company. The original owners were retained their positions at Air Tindi.

Air Tindi served by Yellowknife following line targets depending on the demand:

  • Fort Simpson, Lutselk `e, Rae Lakes, Wekweeti, Behchoko, Wati (all in the Northwest Territories ).
  • Ekati Diamond Mine, Diavik Diamond Mine, Snap Lake Diamond Mine and Colomac mine.
