Airbox

The air box ( German: air box ) is a box to calm the intake air of an internal combustion engine.

It also serves as the intake silencer. In Formula 1 car is its opening on the front of the engine cover on the driver's head. There, cold air is most likely sucked and there is a Ram - Air effect, whereby the power is increased. The air box also allows to incorporate only one instead of a plurality of air filters.
