Airdrieonians FC ( officially: Airdrieonians Football Club ) - also known as The Diamonds - is a Scottish football club based in Airdrie, located in North Lanarkshire. The club currently plays in the Scottish League One, the third highest Scottish league.

History

History of the (old ) Airdrieonians FC

The " Airdrieonians FC" was originally launched under the official name " Excelsior Football Club ' in North Lanarkshire in 1878 and three years later took the name" Airdrieonians Football Club " on. Although the club waited 16 years after its inception, with a participation in the Scottish Football League, they created in 1886 as a regional selection with a 10:2 victory for the heaviest home defeat in the history of Glasgow Rangers.
