AIRMET

AIRMET (English Airman's Information METeorological ) is a weather advisory system for air traffic. Compared to SIGMETS AIRMETs cover less dangerous weather phenomena and affect flight safety guides under FL245. AIRMETs be issued only when necessary.

The aeronautical information is from the meteorological monitoring site and has a validity of six hours. AIRMETs contained in ATIS messages.

For the following weather phenomena AIRMETs be created:

  • Moderate turbulence,
  • Moderate mountain waves,
  • Local storm cells,
  • Risk of icing,
  • Wind with speeds of around 30 knots,
  • Spacious limited visibilities.
