Airport Surveillance Radar

Airport Surveillance Radar ( ASR) is a relatively small radar air traffic control. These cameras medium range required by air traffic controllers to keep all flight movements around an airfield at a glance and to ensure the ever-growing air traffic in a safe, neat, fast way. Usually work the ASR with frequencies in the E-band up to a range of 60 nautical miles ( about 111 km).

Important characteristic of ASR is redundancy: all systems must exist multiple times in order to compensate for technical failures or defects right away.

Newer ASR work digitally and have a weather channel option to display weather phenomena in the vicinity of the airfield.
