Aisymi

Esymi (Greek Αισύμη ( f sg ), up to 1920 Doğanhisar Turkish, Bulgarian Доган Хисар ) is a village in the municipality of Alexandroupoli in Greek Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Together with Leptokarya it makes the same local community ( Topiki Kinotita Esymis Τοπική Κοινότητα Αισύμης ).

Location

Esymi is 214.773 km ², the largest area of the municipality of Alexandroupoli local community. It lies on the border of the communities Maroneia - Sapes, Arriana and Soufli in the north of the municipal territory. To the south lie from west to east, the local communities Kirki, Avandas, Nipsa and Pylea.

The village Esymi is about 33 km northeast of Alexandroupoli on the National Road 53, Leptokarya is about another 8 km to the northwest.
