Ait Abdallah

Aït Abdallah (also Aït Abdullah ) is a small Berber village in the Anti-Atlas in Morocco's Souss -Massa- Draâ in the province of Taroudant.

Location

Aït Abdallah is located about 36 km north-east of Tafraoute on since around 2008 consistently paved road to Igherm ( R106 ). The small Berberort Tiguermine located about 12 km northeast. In spring, the place sometimes receives water through the stream Assif Oussaka.

Economy

Previously barley was grown on the former terraced, but barren and rocky soils; due to reduced or completely absence of rain since the 1970s, agriculture in the region has been almost entirely abandoned. The men sought work as day laborers or small business in the cities of the North or in Europe and the inhabitants of the village live mainly from money transfer services.

History

Most places in the region have a centuries- old history, but from which no written records exist. The only historical sources are oral traditions and the centuries-old Agadire that allow for a draw conclusions about the lifestyle of transhumance, for others on a consistent rivalries and incursions by the villages with each other and point of wandering nomadic tribes.

The simple, built of rocks and clay -storey houses with roofs made crooked Arganholzästen with a circulation of straw and reeds and a cover made of reed mats and earth are successively all abandoned since the 1960s and new - from houses with walls - painted in reddish colors hollow blocks and a foundation and ceiling have been replaced in concrete.

Attractions

The new location has no sights. From the stone and adobe houses of the old town center ( Assaka ) are only ruins. The small Agadir Tagadirt is located about 3 km on a hill above the village. The large memory Castle Amzaour (Agadir Zrhenrhine ) is about 5 km to the northeast also on a hilltop and is surrounded by the most new houses in the village. In the village of Tiguermine branches a - in dry weather and navigable by car - Slope to the north, which branches off again after about 10 kilometers to the southwest and ends at Agadir Tasguent. More Agadire found in only 4 to 5 km further north Berber villages Itourhaine (also Aït Ourhain ) and Dou Tagadirt.
