Aiti
Aiti is a municipality with a population of 33 (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Haute- Corse on the French island of Corsica.
Geography
Aiti situated at an altitude of 740 meters above sea level in the Castagniccia, 38 kilometers southwest of the capital of the Haute -Corse Bastia, surrounded by the neighboring communities Lano, Gavignano and Omessa. The municipality has an area of 12.17 square kilometers. The village is situated on the western edge of the pine forest Forêt de Territorial Pinetu above the valley of the Casa Luna, a tributary of the Golo.
History
1793 Aiti received the status of a municipality and in 1801 the right to local self-government in the wake of the French Revolution ( 1789-1799 ). The highest population ( 356), the municipality had 1831st 1936, they had 209 inhabitants, after which the population decreased rapidly and reached its nadir in 1982. In 1966, the School of Aiti was closed.

Attractions
The parish church of Saint- Étienne was built in the Baroque style. in the 1980s the church was restored by the inhabitants of the municipality. A local artist restored the frescoes of the 18th century. The painting above the altar is St. John the Baptist is, it should have been brought, according to legend of Napoleon Bonaparte from his Italian campaign.

The municipal area controlled appellations apply (AOC ) for Brocciu, Honey ( Miel de Corse - Mele di Corsica ), chestnut flour ( Farine de châtaigne corse - Farina Castagnina corsa ) and wine (Vin de Corse or Corsica blanc, rosé or rouge ) and protected geographical indications ( PGI ) wine ( Ile de Beauté blanc, rosé or rouge and Méditerranée blanc, rosé and rouge ).
