AJ Lee

April Jeanette Mendez ( born March 19, 1987 in Union City, New Jersey) is an American professional wrestler who is currently under contract with WWE.

Her brother brought her to the taste, to look Wrestling and operate themselves later. After her graduation she worked as a janitor in a daycare as a cashier and as a secretary, to get money for training as a professional wrestler. Part of the money she gave her family because this had financial difficulties. Due to lack of money Mendez finished her studies at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Wrestling career

Beginning

After she left the university, she enrolled in a wrestling school in the vicinity of her. On October 10, 2008 Mendez debuted as Miss April in the promotion Women Superstars Uncensored ( WSU ) and lost to Soul Sister Jana in a singles match. In February 2009, she was together with Brooke Carter to defeat the Beatdown Betties and win the WSU Tag Team Championship.

World Wrestling Entertainment / WWE

Florida Championship Wrestling / NXT (2009-2011)

On 5 May 2009 Mendez signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. Mendez played her first match for the FCW 14 August 2009 under the name " April Lee". In September 2009, her ring name was changed to " AJ Lee". She fought for the title of Queen of FCW and defeated Serena to win this at the TV tapings on February 4, 2010.

On 31 August 2010 it was announced that they will participate under the name AJ with her NXT Pro Primo on the third season of WWE NXT. On 7 September 2010, she made her in-ring debut. She finished the season in November 2010 with the third place. Then Mendez came back on at FCW and FCW Divas Championship won it. Also, she was briefly seen in the following seasons of NXT.

Smackdown and relationship with Daniel Bryan

In May 2011, she made her debut at the side of Kaitlyn on Smackdown and formed with it the team of the Chick Busters. By August of the same year they stood Natalya as a mentor to the side.

In November 2011, Mendez began a storyline with Daniel Bryan, which led to a relationship after Bryan winning the World Heavyweight Championship. After Bryan lost the title, the relationship was terminated because he made Mendez responsible for his title loss at WrestleMania XXVIII of him. As part of this she took the gimmick of a slightly mentally battered woman and feuded after further against Bryan and turned it also his new feud opponents, WWE Champion CM Punk and Kane, by intervening in his matches and even acted as a ring judge before they got along in July 2012.

RAW General Manager and Divas Champion

In the 1000th edition of WWE Raw Mendez was appointed during her marriage to Daniel Bryan by Mr. McMahon to the new General Mangerin of RAW. This post she held until her resignation on October 22, 2012 When pay- per-view WWE TLC: . Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2012 Mendez acted against Cena in his match against Dolph Ziggler. Since the evening on Mendez made with Ziggler and Big E Langston a stable but which has been dissolved. On June 16, 2013 Mendez the WWE Divas Champion title won at the PPV Payback of Kaitlyn. Since then Tamina Snuka stands by their side. Mendez's current reign is the longest in the history of the title.
