Akademietheater

The Academy Theater in Vienna is the smaller venue of the Vienna Burgtheater.

History

1911-1913 it was built by the architect Ludwig Baumann, Fellner and Helmer exercise stage of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts at the Lisztstraße 1. The building of the theater and the Academy was built by the Vienna Konzerthaus, passed after the completion of the state and opened A Masked Ball on February 4, 1914 Giuseppe Verdi. Since 1922 it is used by the Burgtheater as a chamber play stage. It has 500 seats, 32 standing passengers and 4 wheelchair spaces. The auditorium was changed in 1939 and 1975.

Performances

In the theater, especially contemporary pieces are played:

  • Such as the world premiere of The Commune of Thomas Vinterberg on September 10, 2011.
  • UA on December 20, 2012: Ewald Palmetshofer: < raiders. owe genital >, directed by Stephan Kimmig.

Nestroy Theatre Prize

The Academy Theatre, with its productions since 2000 one of the most successful theaters in the Nestroy Theatre Prize.
