Akai MPC 60

The Akai MPC 60 (MIDI Production Center ) is a hardware which consists of samplers and sequencers.

He's come on the market in 1988 and was created by Akai with Roger Linn. The sequencer is pattern oriented, the sampler is 16- note polyphony. He is the pioneer of a whole generation of products and to this day quite popular.

Typical are the 16 velocity-sensitive pads on the surface of the desk, which allow a loose handling of the samples assigned. Unlike today's conventional 16 -bit or 24 -bit samplers he takes on with only 12 bits.

The now legendary Akai MPC 60 owes its spread known producers of hip -hop and contemporary R & B area, including DJ Shadow, Dr. Dre and DJ Premier.

1991 came out a second version of MPC -60. The housing has been changed and a headphone jack has been added. Roger Linn later a new operating system ( 3.10) brought out, which has incorporated most of the features of MPC 3000 into the device. Furthermore, it was developed by the company in parallel Marion a SCSI interface.
