Akcent is a Romanian boy band.

Band History

Akcent was first founded in 1999 by the radio DJ Adrian Claudiu Sana as a duo. Together with the singer Ramona Barta he published in 2000 the debut album " Senzaţia ". The resulting single from the " Ultima Vara " developed in Romania into one of the biggest hits of the year.

In 2001, a four-member boy band from Akcent. New members of the band were Marius Nedelcu, Mihai Gruia and Sorin Ştefan Brotnei. First recording was the single Ti -am promis and 2002 appeared under the title " În culori " the first album with the new line. More albums followed in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

The international breakthrough of the band in 2005 with the song " Dragoste de închiriat ". The track was titled " Kylie ", re-recorded a tribute to Kylie Minogue and reached in November 2005, the German single charts.

In 2006, Akcent with the Romanian finals for the Euro Vision Song Contest and occupied with the song " Jokero " second place behind Mihai Traistariu.

In April 2008 Marius Nedelcu left the band.

In the summer of 2009 Akcent ended up with that produced by Edward Maya single " That's My Name" number one summer hit in Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Poland and other countries. In August 2013, Mihai Gruia and Sorin Stefan Brotnei left the band.
