Akgün Kaçmaz

Akgun Kaçmaz ( born January 1, 1935 in Ankara ) is a former Turkish football player. Due to his years of work for Fenerbahce he is associated with this club. On fan and club sides, he is seen as a major player in the club's history. In addition, he is regarded as one of the football pioneers of his home city of Ankara. With the Turkish national team, he participated in the 1954 World Cup.

Career

Association

Kaçmaz arrived in the Turkish capital Ankara on the world and began playing football in the street. During his education, he also played for various school teams. Parallel to his school career he started at amateur club Ankara Doğanspor his club career. For this club he played until the summer of 1950 and moved to the then very popular club in Ankara Hacettepe GK. Through his work at Hacettepe he also got the opportunity to play in front of a wider audience. So he fell to the charge of Fenerbahce, who then brought him to the summer of 1951 on the Bosphorus. The main reason for this change was the fact that Kaçmaz intended in Istanbul to attend a business school. Since he could realize his intention to joining Fenerbahçe, he agreed.

Kaçmaz completed in his first two seasons, 31 of the 32 possible league games. In the season 1952/1953 Kaçmaz reached with his club the championship of the league and thus his first title victory at club level. The following three seasons at Fenerbahçe played Kaçmaz not always in the starting lineup. For the summer of 1956 László Székely took over Fenerbahçe as coach. That coach had played under the Kaçmaz his first two seasons at Fenerbahçe. With this trainer Kaçmaz again played regularly in the starting eleven. His team was able to win end of the season after four years, the championship of Istanbul's professional league. After one season at Karagümrük SK Kaçmaz negotiated with several clubs from Germany. Kaçmaz already played three years ago to go with the idea of a club, but decided at the last minute otherwise. In the summer of 1962 he negotiated in 1961, ascended into the Football Oberliga Süd TSV Schwaben Augsburg and agreed on a change. With his new club, he established himself at once in the starting eleven and played the next three seasons for this club.

For the summer of 1965 Kaçmaz returned to his homeland and signed up to the second division Bandirmaspor. After working for this club for some time he ended his active career as a player.

National

Kaçmaz National team career started with the fact that he was chosen as part of a test game on June 8, 1952 against the Spanish national team in the squad of the Turkish national team. During this game he sat on the bench and came to no stake. He played as a left midfielder and was nominated as a replacement for the set at this position Rober Eryol.

About a year later Kaçmaz was elected at the UEFA youth tournament in 1953 in the squad of the Turkish U-18 national team. In this tournament, the Turkish U-18 with a 3-2 victory over the Spanish U-18 national team reached the 3rd place. Kaçmaz completed during the tournament four matches and scored one goal.

In 1953 he was elected for a test match in the squad of the second selection of the Turkish national team. In the match against the second guard of Switzerland Kaçmaz completed his only game for the Turkish A2 Team.

About a month after his commitment to the second guard Turkey, he also received a nomination for the regular Turkish national team as part of a friendship against the Yugoslav national team. In the game on June 5, 1953, he played over the full length and thus completed his only game.

The next international match nomination he was appointed to the cadre of Turkey for the World Cup 1954. Here they finished at the end of the group stage on points with the German team into second place. Although it had the better goal difference, was determined according to the then rules of the group Second by a play between these two teams. This meeting decided Germany 7:2 for themselves.
