Akin Euba

Akin Euba ( born April 28, 1935 in Lagos) is a Nigerian composer.

Euba studied from 1952 to 1957 at the Trinity College of Music, London music. After that, he was head of the music department of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation. 1965 to 1966 he studied in Los Angeles composition and ethnomusicology. By 1968, he was then a lecturer in music at the University of Lagos, then head of the research department of the University of Ile- Ife.

He composed the opera Chaka, a dance suite for fifteen Nigerian instruments, four pieces for African Orchestra, a symphonic study for orchestra on a Yoruba legend, a piece for choir and Nigerian instruments, a brass quintet, a string quartet and piano works.
