Akmaral Arystanbekova

Aqmaral Chaidarqysy Arystanbekowa ( Kazakh Ақмарал Хайдарқызы Арыстанбекова / Aqmaral Chaidarqysy Arystanbekowa, Russian Акмарал Хайдаровна Арыстанбекова / Akmaral Chaidarowna Arystanbekowa; born May 12, 1948 in Almaty, Kazakh SSR ) is a former Kazakh diplomat and politician.

Biography

After school, she studied chemistry at the State University of Almaty and graduated in 1971 with honors. Afterwards she laid there on her PhD in 1975 and earned a Philosophiae Doctor ( Ph.D.) in chemistry. Between 1975 and 1978 she was a research assistant at the Faculty of Chemistry of the National University in Almaty.

Aqmaral Arystanbekova was first in the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic and politically active there from 1978 to 1983 Associate of the youth organization ( Komsomol ). After that, she was deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic and First 1983-1984 Chairman of the Kazakh Friendship Society. In addition to working as Chairman of the Presidium of the Kazakh Society for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign States from 1984 to 1989 she was the last between 1985 and 1990 also member of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR.

In November 1989, she was Secretary of the Kazakh SSR, and held this office even after the declaration of sovereignty from the Soviet Union in 1990 until the final independence of Kazakhstan on 16 December 1991. Thus she was not only a member of the Soviet delegation at the United Nations and in February 1991 head of the Soviet delegation to the Commission for Social Development, but also the first Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan.

Following them was in December 1991 Head of the Delegation of Kazakhstan preparation and after the accession of Kazakhstan to the United Nations on 2 March 1992 first Permanent Representative to the rank of an ambassador to the United Nations and retained the post until 1999. During this time she was not only at the same time as Ambassador accredited in Cuba, but at the same time from 1994 to 1995 as the representative of Amara Essy Vice President of the 49th UN General Assembly. During the 53th General Assembly from 1998 to 1999, she was not just Vice - Chairman of the Executive Board of UNICEF, but also Vice - Chairman of the First Committee of the General Assembly.

She was ambassador in France in 1999.
