Akmyrat Rejepow

Akmyrat Rejepow (Russian Акмурад Реджепов Akmurad Redschepow ) is a Turkmen politician.

Rejepow was under the late President Saparmurat Turkmen in December 2006, Niyazov head of the so-called presiding modal bodyguard and had, according to media reports a large influence in the military and security apparatus of the country. He should have after the death Nyýazows prevents the transition of the Office of Head of State to the President of Parliament Öwezgeldi Ataýew and instead provide for the establishment of the Deputy Prime Minister Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This was regarded at that time as a puppet Rejepows. Rejepow was proposed by the People's Council as one of eleven candidates for the presidential election in February 2007, among the six actually flown in choosing candidates, which was won by Berdymukhamedov, but he was no longer there.

In July 2007 it was reported that they had Rejepow relieved from office on 15 May and he was convicted along with his son Nurmyrat Rejepow for corruption and abuse of office to prison terms of 20 and 13 years.
