The Akron -Canton Regional Airport is a regional airport in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is located on the boundary of the city of Green, serving the cities of Akron and Canton.

History

1940, in the wake of World War II presented the Civil Aeronautics Administration ( CAA) $ 500 million for the construction of airport facilities, of which $ 231,600 (equivalent to $ 4 million in today's money ) for the construction of a small airfield at Canton. In order to represent also involved in the planning city Massillon the name was changed before the opening in Akron -Canton - Massillon Airport and later at Akron -Canton Regional Airport.

The regional airport was opened in October 1946, the date the Akron Municipal Airport approaching airlines American Airlines, Eastern Air Lines, Capital Airlines and United Airlines were given but only in 1948 by the Civil Aeronautics Board approval to move to the new airport.

Operation
