Al - Hafiz (Arabic الحافظ لدين الله, DMG al - Hafiz li - dini llāh, † 1149 ) was the eleventh Caliph of the Fatimids ( 1130-1149 ).

He appeared as a cousin of al -Amir (1101-1130) after his assassination by the Assassins, the rule in the Fatimid empire to. Since al -Amir had but left no son, the succession of al - Hafiz was not undisputed among the Ismailis. To recognize some of the Ismailis the alleged son at- Tayyib as the rightful successor. This led to a new division of this branch of the Shiites.

Under al - Hafiz, the power of the Fatimids was only limited to Egypt. But again, their rule was no longer unchallenged. So it came to ongoing power struggles between ministers, governors and generals, which significantly weakened the defenses of the Empire against the expansion of the Crusaders.

1149 joined az- Zafir ( 1149-1154 ) to the succession of al - Hafiz.
