Al-Mansur Ali

Nur ad -Din Ali (Arabic المنصور نور الدين علي, DMG al - Mansur ad - Dīn ʿ Alī Nūr; † November 1259 ) was the second since 1257 Mamelukensultan of Egypt. His throne name was al -Malik al - Mansur.

Ali was a son of the first Mamelukensultans of Egypt, al -Mu'izz Aybak, who was murdered in 1257 after a palace coup. The Mamelukes charged on Ali as the new Sultan, but who received no actual power, because he was still at a young age. The court of Cairo was dominated by Mu'izzi Regiment of Mamelukes, who had once served the Sultan Aybak as a bodyguard. Commanded this troop of Sayf al -Din Qutuz, who had assumed the position of Vice- Sultan already under Aybak.

When in November 1259 the news arrived of the advance of the Mongols in Syria in Cairo, Ali was dethroned by Qutuz, now even proclaimed himself sultan.
