Al Matthews

Al Matthews ( born November 21, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American actor and singer.

Life

Matthews served in the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corps and retired after six years as a sergeant with two Purple Hearts from the service. In 1971 he moved to England, where he first appeared as a singer. In 1975 he succeeded with the single Fool entry into the British singles charts. The title held for eight weeks in the charts and peaked at position 16, get it to him no further chart success, he remained a one- hit wonder. He also worked as a presenter on BBC Radio 1, among other things, played at the Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn and in several television productions.

Matthews had minor film roles in several successful international film productions. Mostly it was little more than extras roles and minor supporting roles. He had a somewhat larger supporting role as Sergeant Apone in Aliens - The Return.
