Al Reem Island

The ar - Rim Island (Arabic جزيرة الريم Jazeera ar - Rim, DMG Ǧazīra ar -RIM, English Al Reem Iceland ) is a residential, financial, tourism and business project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Development is the new district, which is roughly 7 square kilometers ar - Rim Island, a natural island but küstenbegradigten 220-500 meters east off the coast of Abu Dhabi, the company Sorouh ( Shams Abu Dhabi ), Reem Investments, and Tamouh.

On the island four districts were planned for around 55,000 people, the direct sea connection should either have its own marina or a lagoon-style domestic channel.

The island gets one for Abu Dhabi unusually high building with about a dozen tall skyscrapers in the city center, including the RAK Tower. Some of these towers are considerably above 350 to about 400 meters above sea level, the comparatively low Citybauten on the main island.

With the development of the developed plots was begun in 2007, in 2011 the first homes were handed over. However, many projects have been delayed or canceled due to funding problems.
