Al Santos (mayor)

Alberto G. Santos (born 1965 in Caracas, Venezuela) is the incumbent mayor of Kearny, New Jersey, United States.

Alberto Santos was born as the son of Portuguese immigrants in Caracas. 1970 the family emigrated to the United States, settling in 1979 in Kearny down. Santos studied at Georgetown University ( Bachelor) and then law at New York University where he earned the degrees Master of Laws and Juris Doctor. He has admitted to the bar in the states of New Jersey and New York.

The Democrat Santos was first elected mayor of Kearny in 1999 and occupied the same position since 1 January 2000 from. It was 2001, 2003, 2005, and - most recently re-elected in 2009 - after the switch to a four -year term. His term ends in late 2013. Santos also has a seat on the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Hudson County.
