The Al Udeid Air Base (Arabic: العربية ) is a military airport and base for the air forces of Qatar. The base is located near Al Rayyan ( 32.18 km west of Doha) in Qatar. It is used primarily by the United States Air Force, the Royal Air Force ( UK ) and the Royal Australian Air Force.

Description

During the war in Afghanistan, among others, this air base for military operations was used. The USAF has here General Dynamics F -16 ( multi-role combat jets), Boeing E-8 JSTARS ( reconnaissance aircraft ), McDonnell Douglas stationed KC -10 Extender ( tanker and transport aircraft), Lockheed C -130 and Boeing KC -135 Stratotanker ( air tankers ). The Royal Air Force has stationed here since 2003 14 F/A-18 Hornet, two Lockheed P -3 ( Maritime Patrol ) and three C -130 Hercules (transport aircraft). The Hornets have been used for more than 350 operations in Iraq. In addition, other types of aircraft are stationed here. Aircraft 120 can be accommodated.

The start and runway is the longest in the entire Gulf region. The construction costs amounted to one billion U.S. dollars.
