Ala di Stura

Ala di Stura ( Piedmontese and Franco- Ala) is a municipality with 469 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Turin (TO ), Region Piedmont.

The community, an alpine winter sports center, consists of the districts Pian del Tetto, Cresto, Marta Sina, Mondrone, Villar and Pertusetto. Di neighboring municipalities are Groscavallo, Chialamberto, Ceres, Balme, Mezzenile and Lemie. The patron saint of the place is San Grato.

The municipality is part of the joint management Comunità Montana Valli di Lanzo.

Geography

The mountain resort is 54 km from the provincial capital of Turin at an altitude of 1080 m above sea level in the Valle d' Ala, one of the three Valli di Lanzo. The municipality covers an area of ​​45 km ².

History

The exact origin of the village is not known, but its existence since the Middle Ages is evidenced by a document from 1267.
