Alain Crépin

Alain Crepin ( born February 28, 1954 in Mettet ) is a Belgian composer and conductor.

Life and work

First lessons for saxophone, cello and piano, he was at the Music Academy of Dinant. He completed his Studiem at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, including by François Danneels, saxophone and instrumentation, as well as conducting with Roland Cardon, Yvonne Ducène, and joint apprenticeship with Jacques Leduc.

From 1975 to 1981 he was principal saxophonist in the music corps van de Rijkswacht ( gendarmerie ) and from 1981 to 1983, he worked also as a saxophonist in the elite band Groot Harmonieorkest van de Belgische Gidsen in Brussels. In 1984 he became conductor of the band of the Chasseurs Ardennais. 1985 he was appointed conductor of the Brass Band of the Belgian Air Force.

He participated in the famous saxophone quartet of Dinant. 1986 to 1997 he was vice - president of the International Association for the Promotion of the saxophones. In 1998 he was appointed to the Board of Saxophonists Association in Paris. He was also professor of saxophone of universities in Gap (France ) and Alicante (Spain). In 1981 he became professor of saxophone at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

As a composer, he wrote many works for wind band and Concert Band.
