Alain de Boissieu

Alain de Boissieu ( born July 5, 1914 in Chartres, Eure -et -Loir, † April 5, 2006 in Clamart, near Paris ) was a French officer, last chief of the General Staff ( 1971-1975 ). He was the son of Charles de Gaulle.

Life

The parents de Boissieus stammeten of Forez and Lyon ( de Boissieu ). Alain de Boissieu was 1936-1938 student at the École Spéciale Militaire Military School of Saint- Cyr and from 1938 students at the French Artillery School at Saumur. He was an officer in the cavalry during the Second World War. France defeated the Wehrmacht in a few weeks and de Boissieu fell into German captivity. He managed to escape in March 1941 in the Soviet Union. There he was interned because of the German - Soviet Non-Aggression Pact. After the German attack on the Soviet Union, he was released and came to London, where he General de Gaulle and the Free French troops joined. In 1946 he married Élisabeth de Gaulle, the daughter of Charles de Gaulle.

He fought in the Algerian war in 1956. In 1962 he sat on 22 August 1962 at the car of his father, as the assassination of Petit- Clamart was committed to de Gaulle. No one was injured. Mastermind was the right-wing OAS, which de Gaulle resented that he had granted independence in Algeria.

Alain de Boissieu was awarded several medals and also appointed Grand Chancellor of the Legion of Honour.
