Alain Fiard

Alain Fiard ( born September 17, 1958 in Phnom Penh) is a former French football player and later coach.

Playing career

Born in Cambodia players went through in his native France for three years the training club INF Vichy and won with his team the Coupe Gambardella, before the age of 20 signed 1979 with first division club SEC Bastia. After a first season with occasional assignments in a relegation battle, he was able to establish in his second year at the Corsican club and celebrate with this beyond winning the Coupe de France in 1981 thanks to a 2-1 victory against AS Saint- Étienne. Because he was a regular player continues to set, he remained loyal to the club first, until he moved on to league rivals AJ Auxerre in 1984.

In Auxerre Fiard received a permanent place in the team and gained in two years of experience in European competition, in which he had previously represented in Bastia one season. Due to a strong youth work, however, the internal pressure is increased, so that in 1987 he turned his back on the club and signed for OSC Lille. In the north of France, he secured at Lille for years despite his age, a regular place, he lost in the course of the season 1992/93. At the end of which Fiard decided at age 34 after 437 Erstligapartien and 28 goals for an end to his career.

Coaching career

The former professional retired for a few years out of football until he returned in 1997 as a youth coach to his former club Auxerre. In 2001 he took on the side of Guy Roux, who had already been in his time as a player his coach, the office of the assistant coach of the first selection. When he had to fight in the winter of 2001 /02 with heart problems, Fiard led temporarily out its tasks. 2004, he left Auxerre and was coach of the Moroccan club Raja Casablanca, but returned in the autumn of the same year returned to France. Subsequently, he worked first for his former club Lille and then for FC Valenciennes as a talent scout, before he again went to Auxerre in 2011, to work as an assistant coach, a position he held until 2012.
