Alan Ball (screenwriter)

Alan Ball ( born May 13, 1957 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an Academy Award-winning screenwriter who achieved a high level of awareness with his screenplay for the film American Beauty. He also works as a producer and director.

Ball is also the creator of the highly successful and award-winning HBO television series Six Feet Under - Died is always (2001-2005), for which he also worked as a producer and sometimes a writer and director. On 27 February 2012 ball kicked off as a scriptwriter of TV series True Blood.
