Alan Clark (keyboardist)

Alan Clark ( born March 5, 1952 in Great Lumley, County Durham ) is a British musician and was 1980-1995 keyboardist of the British rock band Dire Straits.

In 1980, Clark joined the band as a keyboard enhancement for on-location tour of the Straits for the album Making Movies. In Love over gold he was heard for the first time with Dire Straits on an album. He remained in the band until their ( unofficial ) Resolution 1995.

1980 Clark was an official member of the Newcastle folk-rock group Lindisfarne and played with the band, among other things at the Knebworth Festival on June 21. The call to join Dire Straits, but he could not resist then. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the death of Alan Hull, the singer and songwriter of the group Lindisfarne, there were 2005 in Newcastle City Hall a "Memorial Concert" at the Clark as a member of Lindisfarne / Newcastle took part in all-star band.

In February 2008, Clark was back home in Newcastle at the benefit concert " Sunday for Sammy ." Originally also Mark Knopfler should occur there, but a short time before suffered injury ( fish hook in the finger ) prevented this.

Alan Clark also played the keyboards for many movie soundtracks of Dire Straits Mark Knopfler head (eg for the film Local Hero ). He also worked with Knopfler's brother David and played on his solo albums.
