Career

Alan Mollohan is the son of former Congressman Bob Mollohan, who represented the state of West Virginia 1953-1983 twice in the U.S. House of Representatives. The younger Mollohan visited in Lewisburg until 1962 the Greenbrier Military School. Then he studied until 1966 at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg ( Virginia). After studying law and qualifying as a lawyer, he started working in 1970 in this profession. Between 1970 and 1983 he was a member of the reserve of the U.S. Army.

Like his father, Alan Mollohan was also a member of the Democratic Party. In the years 1968, 1972 and 1976 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant. In 1982 he succeeded his father in the first district of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he took up his new mandate on January 3, 1983. After he was confirmed in each case at the next elections, he could implement his mandate in Congress until January 3, 2011. For the elections of 2010 he had to face, for the first time since 1992 an internal party preselection which he lost to State Senator Mike Oliverio. Thus Mollohan had to resign from the Congress in January 2011. Oliverio met in the election to the Republicans David McKinley, a member of parliament in the House of Representatives from West Virginia, and subject to that.

Mollohan was sitting in the Budget Committee and in three of its subcommittees. He is regarded as a multi-millionaire. However, he is not without controversy - especially since in 2006, charges against him were heard, he had his income is not specified correctly. Then he had to give up his membership in the ethics committee of the house. There were other studies; Mollohan conceded error and submitted corrected earnings reports. In 2009 him by the organization Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington ( CREW ) has been accused of corruption.
