Alan Wilson (composer)

Alan Wilson ( born 1947 in Nottingham ) is a British musician and composer who became internationally known with works for new clergy song. His German Magnificat, "My soul magnifies the Lord" has won by the ' Freiburger Chorbuch ' in Germany and widespread popularity.

At the age of 17 years, Wilson was awarded a scholarship at London's Royal College of Music. Another scholarship took him to the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

From 1974 to 1986 he was Director of Music at the University of London Church of Christ- the- King. For their choir, he wrote numerous works. Later, Wilson took over as musical director at Queen Mary College in the east London and at the church of St Mary-le -Bow. He also founded his own choir, the Alan Wilson Singers.
