Alastair Reynolds

Alastair Preston Reynolds ( born April 1, 1966 in Barry, United Kingdom) is a Welsh science fiction author.

Biography

Reynolds was born in 1966 in Barry, South Wales. He grew up in Cornwall. Later, he studied physics and astronomy at Newcastle University. In 1991 he moved to the Netherlands where he met his future wife Josette French. He worked until April 2004 as a scientist for the European Space Agency ( ESA). Since then he has devoted himself full time to writing. Reynolds specializing in hard science fiction and space opera. The German Book editions of his novels and short stories have been published by Heyne Verlag. Since 2008, Reynolds moved back to Wales.
