Alberche

At Aldea del Fresno.

The Alberche is a right tributary of the Tagus by 182 km in length. It rises to 1800 msnm height in the province of Ávila in the Sierra de Gredos. First, it runs as a mountain river to the east, while its water is collected in the reservoirs of the Embalse de Burguillo, Embalse del Charco del Cura and Embalse de San Juan. At Aldea del Fresno, now in the province of ( Community of Madrid ) he leaves the mountains, its underflow turns to the southwest. Here he runs into large meanders through vast meadows, also popularly known as Playa de Madrid. The Alberche opens above of Talavera de la Reina, in Toledo province, in the Tagus.
