Albert Allen Bartlett

Albert Allen Bartlett ( born March 21, 1923 in Shanghai, † September 7, 2013 in Boulder, Colorado) was an American physicist and professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder, in particular grappled with questions about the global population growth.

Career

The son of the rector of the private Shanghai American School came at the age of three months in the U.S. and grew up in Ohio. His bachelor 's degree in physics, he was awarded in 1944 at Colgate University. After his master's degree at Harvard University (1948 ), he received his doctorate in 1951. 1978 he was president of the American Association of Physics Teachers. He was a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Bartlett held from September 1969 over 1700 lectures on Arithmetic, Population and Energy. He looked at the continuing population growth as the biggest challenge facing humanity. The term Sustainable Growth ( sustainable growth ) he considered an oxymoron.
