Albert Dietrich
Albert ( Hermann) Dietrich (* August 28 1829 in the forest house Golk at Meissen, † November 20, 1908 in Berlin) was a German composer and conductor.
Life
Dietrich was a pupil of the Leipzig Conservatory, then in Dusseldorf student of Robert Schumann. This dedicated his 1853 composition ' fairy tales ' (op. 132). Dietrich was in the inner circle of friends Clara Schumann, Joseph Joachim and Johannes Brahms and Robert Schumann's mental collapse experienced the close quarters. In the years 1855-1861 he was a municipal director of music in Bonn and from 1861 to 1890 Kapellmeister at the Oldenburg State Theatre.
Schumann, Brahms and Dietrich composed in 1853 together with her boyfriend Joachim a violin sonata, entitled "Free but lonely " ( the motto of the young Joseph Joachim ). This contributed to the fact that Dietrich's name is not entirely forgotten. Dietrich was a renowned and often listed composer 's lifetime.
While studying law at Leipzig he became a member of the Leipzig University singers shaft to St. Pauli (today German singer shaft ) in winter 1847/48.
Posthumous reception
Dietrich's work became widely for no apparent reason into oblivion. First time in 2008 his three most weighty works appeared on CD: Symphony in D minor, Op 27 Violin Concerto and Romance for Horn & Orchestra. The Oldenburg State Orchestra played it on, and also paid tribute to his former Kapellmeister Dietrich.
