Albert Ferrer Llopis ( born June 6, 1970 in Barcelona), called Chapi, is a Spanish football manager and former football player.

The defender played mainly for FC Barcelona and Chelsea.

Career

Albert Ferrer began his professional career in 1988 with the B- team of FC Barcelona. A year later, he was loaned to CD Tenerife, where he his first 17 games in the Primera División played in the 1989/90 season.

From 1990 to Ferrer played eight years in the first team of FC Barcelona. During this time he played 204 league games and helped his club to so many titles. Among other things, the team, the Spanish Cup, two -time national Cup and the 1992 European Cup champion won five times. Ferrer was one of the most important players of the so-called Dream Team.

From 1998 to 2003 Ferrer was the English first division club FC Chelsea under contract, after he finished his career. With the blues, he won the 2000 FA Cup.

In the Spanish national team Ferrer was active from 1991 to 1999 and played 36 international matches. He participated in the World Championships 1994 in the U.S. and in France in 1998. In addition, he represented Spain at the Olympic Summer Games 1992.

As a coach, Ferrer worked in the youth field of the FC Barcelona before the Dutch Vitesse Arnhem Ehrendivisionär presented it on 28 October 2010 as the new head coach. Since the success failed to materialize - Vitesse avoided in the Eredivisie only because of the almost goal difference against Excelsior Rotterdam the relegation games - Ferrers contract was not renewed at the end of the season.
