Albert Pick

Albert Pick ( born May 15, 1922 in Cologne) is a specialist in the field of paper money. His " World Paper Money Catalog " is regarded as the standard work for paper money collectors around the world.

Early as 1930 began to pick a collection of Banknotes and Emergency currency. He studied after school philosophy, literature and history. In 1946 he founded the Cologne University Press and worked until its sale in 1964 as Managing Director. When his private collection of 180,000 warrants at that time for a private collector gets too big, the collection pick was acquired by the Bavarian Mortgage and Exchange Bank. Pick oversaw and expanded the collection from 1964 to 1985 as a curator at the service of the bank. The collection was introduced Banknote Collecting Foundation in the HVB 2003. He was also sworn expert for paper money.

On Albert Pick the name of the pick numbers going back. This is a number system, may designate and define each note clearly with the collector.

In addition to his most famous work, the " World Paper Money Catalog" published Albert Pick a number of books at home and abroad, and received for his publications, several international prizes and awards.
