Albert Pilát

Albert Pilát ( born November 2, 1903 in Prague, † May 29, 1974 ) was an important Czech mycologist, who provided significant contributions to polypores and abdominal fungi. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Pilát ".

Life

He studied in Prague as a student Josef Velenovskýs of which he was led to mycology. Prior to his promotion, he published monographic studies on certain Porlinge ( Cyphellaceae ) and crust fungi ( Stereaceae ). Since 1930 he was a member of the botanical department of the National Museum in Prague and since 1948 head of the local mycological section.

Since 1930, Albert Pilat published numerous monographs on various fungal groups. 1958 appeared in the " Flora Czechoslovak Republic " under his leadership of the internationally acclaimed book about Gasteromycetes. He has long been the chief editor of the journal " Česka Mycology ".

Numerous species got their scientific name from him, eg

  • Cyphella cejpii Pilát
