Albert Schinz

Albert Schinz ( born March 9, 1870 in Neuchâtel, † December 19, 1943 in Iowa City ) was an American linguist and literary scholar Swiss origin.

Life and work

Schinz graduated in 1892 at the University of Neuchâtel to study theology from the work La nature du péché. Etude psychologique dans ses rapports sur le péché avec le sentiment morale, la liberté morale et trois points essentiels de la dogmatique chrétienne. He continued studying in Berlin and received his doctorate in 1894 at the University of Tübingen. Then he even went to Paris. In 1896 he was a lecturer at the University of Neuchâtel. In 1897 he went to the United States and was instructor of French at Clark University ( until 1898 ), and at the University of Minnesota ( until 1899 ). He was associate professor of French at Bryn Mawr College ( until 1913 ), Smith College ( until 1928 ), eventually a professor at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia ( until 1941 ).
