Alberto Gerchunoff
Alberto Gerchunoff ( born January 1, 1883 in Proskurov (Russian Empire ); † March 2, 1950 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine journalist and writer of Russian origin.
Life
Gerchunoff came from a Jewish family that due to pogroms emigrated to Argentina in 1889. She sat down in Moisés Ville ( Province of Santa Fe), where his father Gerson ben Abraham was assassinated on February 12, 1891 by a Gaucho.
That same year, the family settled in Rajil ( province of Entre Ríos ). This town was founded by the Jewish Colonization Association under the philanthropist Baron Maurice de Hirsch to provide Jews ( mostly from Europe ) a place of refuge from persecution.
Later Gerchunoff settled in Buenos Aires, where he worked mainly as a journalist for the daily newspaper " La Nación ". In addition, over the years, was also a notable literary work.
Eight weeks after his 67th birthday Alberto Gerchunoff died on 2 March 1950 in Buenos Aires and found his final resting place.
